As part of Cafe Colis Resistencia, the Jimenez family has fought the imperialist Pan American Silver daily for more than 10 years, both through direct action at the Escobal mine and in court. It’d be easy to say that buying or drinking Eder’s coffee represents a more sustainable coffee industry, but it doesn’t. Producers in Mataquescuintla are experiencing rising input costs, shrinking yields and forced migration that won’t be permanently fixed just by receiving 4-5x market pricing.
Whatever we pay for coffee, this economic system built on the exploitation of people and land isn’t fixable - it must be replaced in whole. To this end, we stand in solidarity with Eder's Resistencia as it exposes and confronts the contradictions of capitalism. A system which values the profits of North American companies over the livelihood and safety of entire people groups is untenable. CCR and the Xinka resistance are proving this to be true, but the Resistencia must be all of ours as well!

Subscriptions are billed on the 1st of the month, but we roast and ship on the first Tuesday. Each order is packaged in vacuum-sealed boxes and is shipped via USPS or deposited in our Ann Arbor lock-box.
